The Spike Mod APK Old Version — Complete Version History

The Spike championship match gameplay

Newer is not always better. If your phone runs Android 5 or 6, the latest v8.0.116 won’t install at all — it needs Android 7.0+. That’s exactly what this version history is for: pick the newest build your device can actually run.

Version History

v8.0.116 (Oct 2026) — 462 MB, Android 7.0+. The current build. The developer’s own changelog for it is one line — ‘Bug Fixes’ — but the Android requirement rose to 7.0+, which is the change that actually affects who can install it.

v8.0.106 / v8.0.109 (Sep–Oct 2026). The first v8 line. Big file (843 MB as XAPK), introduced the updated shop and the current character balance.

v7.6.139 (2026) — Android 5.0+. The last of the 7.6 line and the most widely mirrored build. If a site only offers one old version, it’s usually this one.

v7.5.106 / v7.5.110 (2026) — 688–718 MB, Android 5.0–6.0+. The builds most long-running guide sites were written around. Perfectly playable, but missing the v8 roster additions.

Which old version should you download?

  • Android 7.0+ phone: just use the latest v8.0.116 from the homepage.
  • Android 5.0–6.0 phone: v7.6.139 is your ceiling — the last build that supports you.
  • Save compatibility: mod saves carry forward within the same source’s builds. Mixing builds from different sites is the #1 cause of ‘App not installed’ and lost saves.

How to update safely

Install the new build over the old mod build — same signature, save preserved. Never install a mod over the Play Store version or the other way round. Back up the game’s data folder (Android/data/com.daerisoft.thespikerm1) before any big jump like 7.6 → 8.0.

Is The Spike Mod APK Safe? An Honest Answer

The Spike key art

Every mod site says ‘100% safe, no virus!’ — and that sentence alone should make you suspicious. A mod APK is an unofficial, re-signed build of someone else’s game. Here is the honest risk picture.

Risk 1: Malware in fake builds

The game itself isn’t the danger — the download source is. Popular mod names get repackaged with adware constantly. Protection: check the file size (the real v8.0.116 is 462 MB), check the version, and review the permissions the installer requests. A volleyball game has no business asking for your contacts or SMS.

Risk 2: Account bans

This one is real and comes from the developer, not the file. Unlimited money and maxed stats are visible to the game’s servers in online modes. Players report bans after spending modded coins in online shop modes — story mode and training are offline and don’t phone home. Rule: mod offline, or mod on a throwaway account.

Risk 3: Lost progress

Mod builds don’t use the official cloud save. Uninstall the wrong build, or install a differently-signed update, and your roster is gone. Back up Android/data/com.daerisoft.thespikerm1 before updating.

The safety checklist

  • File name, size (462 MB) and version (8.0.116) match before installing
  • Permissions reviewed — no contacts, SMS or accessibility access
  • Secondary account for anything online
  • Save folder backed up before every update
  • When in doubt: the official game is free on Google Play

Verdict: the mod is reasonably safe for offline story play when you follow the checklist. It is never ‘100% safe’, and any site claiming otherwise is selling you something.

The Spike Mod APK Not Working? Every Fix That Matters

The Spike story mode gameplay

Four problems account for nearly every ‘the mod doesn’t work’ report. Work through yours in order — each fix takes under five minutes.

1. ‘App not installed’

Cause: a signature conflict. The official build, or a mod from a different source, is still on the phone. Fix: uninstall every existing copy of The Spike, restart the phone, then install. Also confirm you have at least 1 GB free — Android reports low space with this same error.

2. Black screen on launch

Cause: missing or misplaced game data (OBB). Fix: check that the data folder sits at Android/obb/com.daerisoft.thespikerm1/ (or Android/data/ depending on your build). One wrong subfolder is enough. Also try clearing the app cache once.

3. Crashes after the logo

Usually a device or version mismatch: v8.0.116 needs Android 7.0+. On Android 5/6 devices, install v7.6.139 instead. On very low-RAM phones (under 2 GB), force-stop background apps before launching.

4. Mod menu doesn’t appear

The menu needs the ‘display over other apps’ permission. Go to Settings → Apps → The Spike → Appearance/display over other apps → Allow, then relaunch. In emulators, the same toggle lives in the emulator’s Android settings.

Still broken?

Re-download the file — an interrupted 462 MB download corrupts silently. Verify the size matches 462 MB exactly before reinstalling, and never stack two different ‘fixes’ from two different sites on one install.

The Spike Mod APK vs Original — Which One Should You Play?

The Spike 3v3 rally gameplay

The short version: the mod is the better toy, the original is the better game account. Which one you should play depends on how you play.

Where the mod wins

  • Freedom: every character unlocked, including S+ stars like Nishikawa, from the first launch
  • No grind: unlimited coins make training and costumes a non-issue
  • No ads: rallies flow uninterrupted
  • Experimentation: re-spec builds freely and learn what stats actually do

Where the original wins

  • Online play: ranked and events without ban anxiety
  • Your progress is safe: cloud save, automatic updates, no reinstall rituals
  • Support the devs: DAERISOFT is a small studio; the official game is how sequels happen

Our honest recommendation

New player curious about the game? Start with the original — the early progression is genuinely well-designed. Returning player who already ground through it once, or someone who mainly plays story mode on the bus? The mod respects your time. And nothing stops you keeping both on different devices: official for online, mod for offline experiments.

Boom Jump Guide — How to Trigger The Spike’s Strongest Shot

The Spike player spiking at the net

Search any Spike forum and the top question is always the same: ‘Why won’t my Boom Jump trigger?’ The answer is almost never timing. It’s a number on your character screen.

The 170 rule

Boom Jump requires a Jump stat of 170 or higher. Below that, the move simply does not exist for that character — no timing trick changes it. Reach 170 by training Jump in the gym, equipping jump-boosting gear, or picking a naturally gifted S+ spiker. Nishikawa clears the bar natively; in the mod build his stats start maxed.

The execution

  • Full run-up: start the approach from the back of the court to build maximum speed
  • Jump as the set peaks: press jump the moment the setter’s ball tops its arc
  • Spike at the very top: the game gives a split-second slow-down at max height — press spike there, angled cross-court

A clean Boom Jump registers around 150–166 km/h on the speed readout and beats blocks that stop normal spikes cold.

The drill

Training mode, serves off, sets on slow. Fifty repetitions focusing only on the run-up distance — most failed Boom Jumps are short approaches, not late presses. When 40 of 50 trigger, move to normal set speed. Within a week it becomes the shot you open every rally with.

Full character and training breakdowns live on the Tips & Tricks page.

The Spike v8.0.116 Update — What’s New This October

The Spike key art — player spiking

The October 2026 build, v8.0.116, looks minor on paper — the developer’s changelog is literally ‘Bug Fixes’ — but two practical changes matter if you play the mod.

What verifiably changed

  • Android requirement is now 7.0+ (version code 679047). The v7.6 line still ran on Android 5.0 — that support is gone in v8.
  • File size is 462 MB for the current listing, so budget the storage before you download.
  • Bug fixes — the full extent of the official release note. No new characters or modes are announced for this build, whatever other sites claim.
  • Mod features unchanged: unlimited money, max level, full roster unlock and no ads, rebuilt on the v8 line.

Should you update?

On Android 7.0+: yes — install over your current mod build and your save carries over. On Android 5/6: stay on v7.6.139; v8 won’t install on your device at all. Full version-by-version history is in our old versions guide.

A note on mod update timing

Mod builds trail official releases by days, not hours — the file has to be re-built for each version. If an update just dropped and the mod isn’t out yet, that’s normal. Play the official build online in the meantime and never install a ‘v8 mod’ that appears suspiciously early from an unknown source.

Blog FAQ

v8.0.116 (October 2026) — 462 MB, for Android 7.0 and higher. The developer’s own changelog for it is one line: ‘Bug Fixes’.
Reasonably safe for offline story play if you follow the checklist: match the file size (462 MB) and version (8.0.116), review permissions, use a secondary account for anything online, and back up your save before updating. No site can honestly promise ‘100% safe’ for an unofficial build.
Almost always a signature conflict: the official build, or a mod from a different source, is still installed. Uninstall every copy of The Spike, restart the phone, keep 1 GB free, then reinstall.
Your character needs a Jump stat of 170 or higher, a full run-up from the back of the court, and a spike pressed at the very top of the jump. Below 170 Jump, the move never triggers no matter how perfect your timing is.
The mod is better for offline freedom — full roster, no grind, no ads. The original is better for online play, cloud saves and supporting DAERISOFT. Many players keep both: official for online, mod for offline experiments.
v7.6.139 — the last build that supports Android 5.0+. v8.0.116 needs Android 7.0+ and will not install on older devices.
